MHR NGO organizes a meeting for IIMP with families of the missing
On April 17, 2024, a meeting was held between the families of several forcibly disappeared detainees and the International Commission on Missing Persons (IIMP) in Syria, organized by Mizan for Law and Human Rights Studies, and attended by 20 mothers and loved ones of the missing. The meeting was attended by Ms. Frances and Ms. Amal from the founding team of the commission;
The Commission on Missing Persons provided the families with an introductory explanation of the commission, its mandate, competencies, and working mechanisms according to the General Assembly’s resolution and its internal regulations. They listened to the families’ interventions and stories, and answered their questions in an interactive dialogue facilitated by lawyer Yaser Al-Farhan. The attendees expressed at the end of the meeting their eagerness for the continued organization of sessions with families in forgotten areas and their welcome for the institution’s work and the enhancement of cooperation with it.
